St Mary's Church - Hertingford Bury

St Mary's Church, Hertingfordbury

Recently completed in March 2012 the extension to St Mary’s Church, Hertingfordbury has been a long time coming for the parish.

After many planning issues work could finally commence in April 2011.

The design of the extension was lends itself to both modern and traditional methods of construction and materials. From the flat Armourseam roof to the traditional flint of the external walls it was important for all elements to blend with the existing with a modern twist.

The church were keen to have a multi-use space where they could hold PCC meetings and have the benefit of toilet and kitchen facilities and this has been achieved in a striking octagon inspired shape. The use of large oak glazed areas have flourished the extension with natural light while keeping with the traditional nature of the project.
