St Marys Church, Corringham

Lodge & Sons (Builders) Ltd were instructed to carry out urgent conservation work to the external elevations of the tower and roof at St Mary’s Church.

The work involved the complete removal of the shingle roof, which had suffered from deteriation by the weather due to the location if the estuary and the local wildlife, woodpeckers in particular.  The roof was re-instated using Oak shingles as required.

Work also involved the complete rake out and re-point of all elevations of the tower. A number of sample panels were completed before a pointing mix was approved by English Heritage and work could commence. Various areas of re-building were required as work progressed but these were dealt with efficiently and professionally.
