Lodge & Sons (Builders) Ltd were instructed to proceed with works to the church to repair and conserve both the South East and South West
buttresses of the tower. Over a number of years the faces of the buttresses had deteriorated severely which was leaving a dangerous situation for church users with the possibility of falling stonework/flintwork.

The scope of the works was to replace all existing stones, mainly quoins, that were too badly damaged to be saved with new Clipsham stone to match. The intention was to also replace a number of failing water table stones which were badly affected. Once works on site had commenced it was apparent that a number of additional water table stones would be required along with a large section of rebuilding to the top section of the South West corner completely where the core of the masonry was failing. Lodge & Sons (Builders) Ltd also successfully re-built and re-pointed a number of areas of the faces of the buttresses where voids were found.
